Mister Softee—the ubiquitous summertime purveyor of all things sugar- and dairy-laden in neighborhoods across the country—turns 50 years old this year. To celebrate, the company is donating $50,000 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). JDRF is circulating a press release touting this donation, which does not mention anything unusual (or even a bit ironic or hypocritical) about this partnership. Perhaps Mister Softee is trying to repent as he ages? The American Dental Association and American Obesity Association should submit grant requests, ASAP.
