GCIP in the Gulf/Midsouth

"GCIP-GulfMidsouth-Cover-Medium-BorderStrengthening Democracy, Increasing Opportunities: Impacts of Advocacy, Organizing and Civic Engagement in the Gulf/Midsouth Region" looks at how 20 nonprofits in Alabama, Arkansas, Louisiana and Mississippi and their allies helped improved their communities and amplified the voices of underserved residents in the democratic process through policy engagement. These nonprofits leveraged foundation grants that generated a $114 return for every dollar spent.

This report is the 7th in a series by the Grantmaking for Community Impact Project (GCIP) to encourage more funders and other grantmaking institutions to increase or start funding advocacy and community organizing.

The 20 nonprofits featured in the report are:

October is Organizing and Advocacy Month! 

As a result of this report, the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation and Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families, Arkansas Public Policy Panel, Center for Artistic Revolution, Northwest Arkansas Workers' Justice Center, and Rural Community Alliance are promoting advocacy and organizing during the month of October to recognize this impact and encourage further support in the state of Arkansas.
