	As part of its Grantmaking for Community Impact Project, NCRP will release the first in a series of reports, “Strengthening Democracy, Increasing Opportunities: Impacts of Advocacy, Organizing and Civic Engagement in New Mexico” at a briefing co-hosted by the New Mexico Association of Grantmakers (NMAG).
November 20-23, 2008 Philadelphia, PA	Caring to Change: New Foundation Grantmaking Strategies ARNOVA Annual Conference
	NCRP Field Director Melissa Johnson will participate in a discussion about Caring to Change, an applied research project using interviews and web-based communication to draw on the wisdom of younger people, people of color, and others in nonprofits and philanthropy not normally involved in setting grantmaking strategy. 	NCRP executive director Aaron Dorfman will be presenting at the following sessions: Smart Philanthropy: Deliberations on Strategic Grantmaking Tues., Oct. 28, 10:30-11:45 am Undoubtedly one of the most commonly used phrases in philanthropy today, strategic grantmaking means different things to different people. This session will explore the “how’s” and “why’s” of strategic grantmaking and you will learn how grantmakers can be strategic while remaining responsive to the needs of the nonprofit sector. Exploring Grantmaker/Grantseeker Relationships Tues., Oct. 28, 2:30-3:45 pm Developing relationships with grantees is a critical skill for grantmakers and communication can make or break these relationships.
