DAYTON - The largest U.S. foundations gave only $1 in $3 in support of "economically and socially disadvantaged" groups such as minorities, women, disabled people, senior citizens and the poor, according to a new report. But the Dayton-based Mathile Family Foundation was cited for its support of single parents.
Only one Ohio foundation - Cleveland's Eva L. and Joseph M. Bruening Foundation - gave at least half of its grants for the disadvantaged, according to last week's report by the watchdog National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy of Washington, D.C.
