Nonprofits, as well as the communities they serve, benefit enormously through advocacy and civic engagement, says the latest in a series of reports from the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP). The just-released, five-year intensive study finds that vast improvements were made in many areas, including affordable housing, education, environment, human rights and health.
The reports follow 70 nonprofits in New Mexico, North Carolina, Minnesota and Los Angeles. Among other things, the findings show communities saw a return of $89 to $157 per each dollar spent and generated a total of nearly $14 billion worth of community benefits.
