Only 11 percent of grant makers that are major supporters of education organizations give at least half their grant money to programs for the neediest students, according to a new study by the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, the Associated Press writes.
The watchdog group looked at 672 U.S. foundations that gave at least $1-million to educational causes from 2006 to 2008 in compiling its report, released Wednesday at the Grantmakers for Education conference in New Orleans.
