Fund-raising efforts by nonprofits in Pennsylvania realized $3.1 billion from 2005 to 2009 for programs for the poor, disabled, students and others, a new study on philanthropy shows.
The report by the Washington-based National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy highlighted efforts by a dozen organizations to obtain funding for programs. Each group was asked to try to monetize the amount raised, "even though the total benefits cannot be quantified," said Lisa Ranghelli...
