Three of NCRP's Own Named to 2005 NonProfit Times' Power and Influence Top 50

Once again, NCRP's leadership has been recognized in the 8th annual 2005 NPT Power and Influence Top 50, meant to recognize those in the nonprofit sector who are "sterling examples of leadership," with a special emphasis on "those seeking to regulate and those either fighting back or capitulating." Honored among NCRP staff and board are Rick Cohen, NCRP executive director, and Gary Bass, board member and director of OMB Watch.

New to the Top 50 list, but a veteran of the New York City nonprofit sector and policy debates, is David Jones, President and CEO of the Community Service Society of New York and incoming chairperson of the NCRP board.

Of NCRP, NPT says, "The old adage in deciding a dispute is that if both sides are unhappy, you probably judged it right. That's NCRP in a nutshell. Considered a liberal group, Cohen takes on everyone with deep public policy research and analysis."

"Recognition of NCRP staff and board members on NPT's Power & Influence Top 50 underscores the importance of NCRP's research and advocacy in a climate where public trust has waned and confidence and accountability must be restored," said Cohen. "This is a nod to NCRP's increasing visibility on issues, not only of foundation regulation and accountability, but of social justice and advocating for greater and more strategic foundation response to long-term social change."

The 2005 NPT Power & Influence Top 50 is featured in the Nonprofit Times August 1, 2005 issue, and can be found online at http://www.nptimes.com/Aug05/Aug05_NPT_Top50.pdf.
