| WASHINGTON - The National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (NCRP) today announced the hiring of Naomi T. Tacuyan as its new communications associate. Tacuyan joined the staff of the philanthropic watchdog group as part of the organization's push to strengthen its outreach efforts to the media, policy makers, and the general philanthropic and nonprofit communities. "We are very pleased to bring Naomi on board to enhance our media relations, publications and other outreach programs," said NCRP Executive Director Rick Cohen. "Naomi offers us a wonderful combination of commitment, passion and talent. We are excited that she has joined NCRP to build our communications capacity so that we can more effectively foster a democratic and accountable philanthropic sector in the U.S." As NCRP's communications associate, Tacuyan assists senior staff in implementing the organization's communications plan, handles all media inquires and requests, supervises the maintenance of the organization's website, and produces NCRP's quarterly journal, Responsive Philanthropy, as well as the bi-monthly newsletter, The NCRP Bulletin. Tacuyan succeeds Sloan Wiesen who left the organization in February. Before coming to NCRP, Tacuyan served as Program Coordinator for the National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development, an organization committed to strengthening the voice of Asian American and Pacific Islander communities in the local, regional, and national public policy arenas. She also serves on the board of the Washington, D.C. chapter of the National Asian Pacific American Women's Forum co-coordinating all membership and communications activities. Tacuyan came to Washington in 2002, after graduating from New York University with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication, and a minor in Asian/Pacific/American Studies. (more) "I am truly excited to join an organization that has consistently promoted a progressive philanthropic movement where the resources are used to more effectively serve populations that are the least well-off politically, economically and socially," said Tacuyan. "I am looking forward to increasing NCRP's visibility and ensuring that we have a solid communications program and processes in place." Founded in 1976, the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy is dedicated to helping the philanthropic community advance the values of social and economic justice for all Americans. Committed to helping funders more effectively serve the most disadvantaged Americans, NCRP is a national watchdog, research and advocacy organization that promotes public accountability and accessibility among foundations, corporate grantmakers, individual donors and workplace giving programs.
