WATCHDOG GROUP ANNOUNCES NEW BOARD MEMBERS
 
 

WASHINGTON, DC – The National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy announced today the election of William Schulz and Sherece Y. West, Ph.D. to the organization’s board of directors.

NCRP executive director Aaron Dorfman said, “We’re delighted to have these two talented individuals joining the board of directors. They will bring valuable insight, energy and experience as NCRP moves forward with its mission to improve the practice of philanthropy.”

William Schulz joins the organization’s board of directors after eight years as the Executive Director of Amnesty International, USA and fifteen years with The Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations. He is the recipient of a Distinguished Achievement Award from Oberlin College, a Human Rights Award from Minnesota Advocates for Human Rights, and was voted Humanist of the Year by the American Humanist Association in 2000.

Schulz previously served on the boards of People for the American Way, Planned Parenthood of America, and Americans United for Separation of Church and State. He is currently a fellow with the Center for American Progress.

Sherece Y. West, Ph.D., President of the Winthrop Rockefeller Foundation (WRF) was also elected to NCRP’s board of directors. West was the President and CEO of the Carrier Foundation and led the Louisiana Disaster Recovery Foundation prior to her work with WRF. In 2007, she won the Telly Award Bronze for her work as Executive Producer of Power in the People.

West also serves on the board of the Council on Foundations and recently completed service on the board of the Neighborhood Funders Group.
