Come see NCRP out in the field
United Philanthropy Forum
2020 Virtual Forum Conference
July 13-24, 2020
Virtual Conference
NCRP will have 5 staff members attend The Forum’s 2020 Annual Conference: Elbert Garcia, director of strategic communications; Jose Dominguez, vice president and chief operating officer; Ben Barge, field director; Eleni Refu, senior research associate; and Jeanné Lewis, vice president and chief engagement officer. The conference will focus on 4 major themes: environmental justice, building an equitable democracy, lessons from the pandemic and movement in their racial equity efforts.
Join us for 2 NCRP-led sessions. In the first, on July 17, Lewis will lead a PSO-focused workshop called Help your Members Connect the Dots Between Power and Equity. Philanthropy serving organizations (PSOs) have the unique privilege of being able to convene and organize some of the most influential funding groups on any given issue. As such, they play a key role in helping the philanthropic sector invest in and adhere to equitable practices. Using NCRP’s Power Moves toolkit as a guide, the session will feature the experiences of Arizona Grantmakers Forum, Iowa Council of Foundations and San Diego Grantmakers to work with their members on these topics. This interactive discussion will also explore how PSOs can help their foundation members bring this discussion back to their boards.
Then on July 22, Barge will lead a session alongside Grantmakers Concerned with Immigrants and Refugees, the Chicago Community Trust, and NCRP nonprofit member Louisiana Organization for Refugees and Immigrants about ways local foundations can be stronger partners for local pro-immigrant, pro-refugee movement groups. The session will feature NCRP’s new interactive dashboard about local funding for immigrants and refugees called “Won’t You Be My Neighbor,” the newest addition to our Movement Investment Project.
