A Call to Action: Investing in Black Leadership for Migrant and Racial Justice

June 2, 2022

NCRP is proud to co-sponsor this webinar. NCRP’s recent analysis of Candid data found that merely 1.3% of foundation funding for the pro-immigrant, pro-refugee movement in the U.S. goes to groups whose primary focus is Black migrant communities, even though Black immigrants are the fastest growing segment of the immigrant population in the U.S. Black migrant organizations play a critical role in supporting migrants arriving at U.S. borders, building power with and for the growing African, Afro-Caribbean, and Afrolatinx migrant communities in the U.S., and transforming the U.S. immigration system to embrace the humanity and dignity of all migrants. The time is NOW for philanthropy to proactively address the historic underinvestment in Black migrant communities. Please join this briefing with Black migrant leaders and funders to learn more about:

  • The growing number of Black migrants in the U.S. and the unique and urgent challenges facing Black migrant communities.
  • The critical leadership roles Black migrant organizations play in the movements for immigrant and racial justice, including in urgent efforts to provide humanitarian relief, supporting migrants at the border in preparation for the end of Title 42, and fighting for permanent status and protections benefiting all migration communities.
  • What funders can do to invest in Black migrant communities, including supporting the Black Migrant Power Fund.
