Stanford Social Innovation Review
Frontiers of Social Innovation 2022 Annual Conference
March 22-24, 2022
Virtual
In the last few years, there has been an explosion of interest from donors and foundations in funding intermediary organizations that prioritize giving to social change nonprofits led by and accountable to Black, Indigenous and other people of color. This panel discussion moderated by NCRP President Aaron Dorfman will explore the forces driving that trend and dig into the benefits – and the potential disadvantages – of funding through intermediaries. The session will also lift structural ways to ensure the communities intended to benefit from this funding truly do benefit and to mitigate the potential disadvantages. Senior Associate Eleni Refu will also attend this virtual conference to advocate for equity in the philanthropic sector.
Speakers:
· Aaron Dorfman, National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy (moderator)
· Crystal Hayling, The Libra Foundation and Democracy Frontlines Fund
· Mike Roberts, First Nations Development Institute
