Leadership and Accountability: Overcoming Foundation Fragility to Advance Justice

May 16 – 18, 2022

In-person/Virtual

At GEO’s 2022 National Conference, Senior Engagement Associate Eleni Refu will facilitate a breakout conversation with grantmakers and other practitioners on the responsibilities and roles of foundation trustees in justice-centered philanthropy. As stewards of opportunities for equity and justice, foundation leaders set the tone for how a foundation shows up in the world. So, what happens when a foundation is called out for their actions or their inaction? In this special, interactive session designed for foundation CEO’s and senior leadership, attendees will explore how they can embrace humility, boldness and bravery when it is hardest to do so. Participants will leave with tools and analysis to help ensure that as our communities grapple with the legacies of white supremacy, xenophobia, a warming planet and so much more, their institutions contribute to, not impede, the right side of history.
