Moving a Progressive Agenda in this Time of Crisis
May 27, 2020

The current coronavirus pandemic is hitting workers and immigrants disproportionally hard. Black, Indigenous and people of color are facing the brunt of this crisis. Yet, the crisis also presents opportunities to help change the conditions and policies that have made this pandemic disproportionately worse for communities of color.

Join us on Wednesday, May 27 at noon for an important funder strategy conversation on how to not just provide immediate relief, but also long-term support that empowers communities beyond the current moment. NCRP’s Aaron Dorfman will moderate a panel that includes:

  • Rep. Pramila Jayapal, Co-chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus
  • Carmen Rojas, Incoming President, Marguerite Casey Foundation
  • Karen McNeil-Miller, President and CEO, Colorado Health Foundation
  • Hilary Pennington, Executive Vice President, Ford Foundation

The funder strategy conversation will explore:

  • How can foundations and donors who care about equity and justice best advance a progressive agenda now and in the coming months?
  • What are the opportunities at the federal or state level within immediate COVID response efforts?
  • How will the changing political and economic landscape open opportunities for lasting structural change later in 2020 and into 2021?
  • What can funders do to help communities win real change and build new systems that better serve those who have been traditionally marginalized?
