Come see NCRP out in the field
Southeastern Council on Foundations
2018 Annual Meeting
November 7-9, 2018
Louisville, KY
After 150 interviews with nonprofits, community leaders and funders across the South; five cutting-edge reports; and dozens of events in the South and nationally, it’s time to share what we’ve learned from As the South Grows, a joint initiative from Grantmakers for Southern Progress and the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy to increase national and Southern funding alike for Southern structural change. Ben Barge, NCRP’s senior associate for learning and engagement, will present alongside Shaena Johnson, program officer with the LGBTQ Racial Justice Fund and Lavastian Glenn from the Nathan Cummings Foundation.
In a reflective take, the panel will discuss where funding is and isn’t going in the South, what prevents national funders from investing and how Southern foundation peers are partnering with Southerners on the frontlines of change. Participants will learn about tangible, often counter-intuitive strategies that embrace, rather than shy away from, innovative work led by low-income families, parents and children of color, women and girls, LGBTQ folks and immigrants new and old.
