Community-powered grassroots social movements need more philanthropic funding for efforts to create a more equitable and just future

The Movement Investment Project is a long-term initiative rooted in the experience of frontline movement leaders and funder allies that uses research, engagement and advocacy to:

  • Drive more philanthropic resources to social movements
Such as pro-immmigrant, democracy and economic equity movements.
  • Catalyze grantmaking strategies and practices that are responsive to movements’ immediate and long-term needs
Such as flexible, multi-year funding; support for capacity building and leadership; leveraging funder influence and other ways that grantmakers and donors can help movement organizations succeed.

We’re here to help

This project began in 2019 to highlight some of the innovative work already happening to support movements and to educate funders about these opportunities to maximize their impact.

The project launched with a focus on the pro-immigrant movement. We’ll be working on other issue areas in the future – reach out to membership[at]ncrp.org for more information on how we can assist you.
